I’m Lindsey (although everyone calls me Linz), I’ve been married to my husband Nick for (well) over 30 years and we’ve two sons called Harry and Angus.

Here’s the thing, I never set out on becoming a florist, I trained as a nurse and then went on to practice as a community midwife. The whole flower ‘thing’ started as a creative outlet during a career break but soon flourished into a thriving event florist business which I called The White Horse Flower Company.

I’m an enthusiastic cook and I love foraging for ingredients, although not much of a gardener I do grow a few veggies alongside spring flowering bulbs in springtime and in summer, I love to grow sweet peas and the odd dahlia; truth be told I’m never happier sitting around a table with friends and family eating delicious food. To me arranging flowers is a lot like cooking - it’s all about using the best seasonal ingredients and what you do with these is where the magic happens!

On a more serious note: I think we should each take some responsibilty towards the urgent environmental issues of our time. As a florist I try to set an example by arranging flowers without the use of single-use plastics or floral foam, I also up-cycle, recyle, repurpose as well as compost all green waste. I even wrap all TWHFCo. bouquets in brown or unbleached paper - little things which if we did collectively, would make a huge difference. Alongside importing flowers from abroad (which enables me to run my business year-round), I buy many flowers right here in the UK. By using local flowers and foliage enables me to celebrate the ebb and flow of the seasons in my work. That said, I buy locally mostly because the flowers embellish my arrangements hugely, knowing they’re usually picked to order and often in my studio within a day of growing in the field adds to my enjoyment of being a florist enormously.

A favourite part of my job is when a customer first sets eyes on flowers that I’ve arranged; the look on their face(s) when ideas and aspirations have beeen turned into a reality is a sight I’ll never tire of.

I hope the picture galleries here and over on instagram inspire you to get in touch and see what I might be able to create for you.
